ORMA is born from a dream

Our history

1960

Felice Marzocchi, our founder, was born in 1934 into a family of farmers in Imola. From a young age, he showed a greater interest in mechanics than in the rural environment.

After completing his studies, he served in the military in Modena as a tank driver and later moved to Milan, where he worked as a tractor operator for the construction of the runway at Malpensa Airport.

It was probably these experiences, combined with his passion for engines and mechanics, that led him to the decision to open a small workshop for the repair of agricultural machinery in Giardino, the place where he was born and raised. The workshop was named O.R.M.A. (Officina Riparazioni Macchine Agricole – Agricultural Machinery Repair Workshop).

1962

The production of grape-crushing machines begins. Marking this important change, the acronym O.R.M.A. is redefined from “Officina Riparazioni Macchine Agricole” (Agricultural Machinery Repair Workshop) to “Officina Romagnola Macchine Agricole” (Romagna Agricultural Machinery Workshop), reflecting in its very name a deep attachment to its homeland, Romagna.

Since 1963, Felice has been joined by Clara, his wife and lifelong business partner. O.R.M.A. becomes one of Italy’s leading producers of destemming and crushing machines for winemaking. As the company grows, space becomes insufficient, leading to the construction of a new building in 1963, followed by a second in 1968 and a third in 1976.

1974

O.R.M.A. S.R.L. is founded, with a new corporate structure and a new project alongside its existing production: the manufacturing of self-propelled irrigators and the expansion into international markets.

1980

The President of the Italian Republic, Sandro Pertini, awards Felice Marzocchi the honor of “Cavliere della Repubblica Italiana”.

Anni ’80 – ‘90

In the 1980s and 1990s, we achieved new milestones in product innovation, filed several patents, and received international awards for technical advancements, successfully expanding into major global markets.
